A superb location. I had gone scrambling up the hill side and was looking back down the vertiginous slopes. The cactus in the foreground is known as a teddy bear cholla. Its spines will penetrate a thick leather walking boot with ease. I got several in my calves during this episode through not looking where I was going. As you can see the vegetation all around is pretty much browned off.
