We've had a pretty mediocre spring flower-wise but the palo verde, our state tree, never fails.

Taken on the preserve this a.m. The colour of the blossom is not as saturated as they can be but I liked the middle detail of the saguaro and the North Phoenix sprawl beyond.

I love the soft tones of pampas grass at sunset and have taken several similar shots to this.

Last weekend we had the first rain in 3 months or so so everything seemed a little fresher on a stroll I took afterwards. This is a mesquite tree seed pod dislodged in the high winds. I liked the arabesque of its curves on the damp sidewalk.

These bushes are very common in people's yard landscaping here in Phoenix. They are usually cut in cylinders or semi-spheres 3 to 5 feet across

I took this today on a walk around the neighbourhood. In the foreground are pampas grass heads behind which are the dried flowerets of brittle bush.
